Rainy days and Mondays may get some people down, but they've been very good for the garden this week. We got three more inches of rain Sunday and Monday. In the garden the subject of the weather is always topical, and, this week, it's been downright tropical. Its been muggy ,steamy and wet, wet wet. It has been an ideal time for  weed pulling. Not exactly my favorite thing to do, but the plants do appreciate the elbow room.  I think weed pulling would be more popular if it were made into a sporting event. Yes , imagine the excitement of seeing  who could pull the most weeds in a finite amount of time. You probably shouldn't look for that in the London Olympics this Summer.
Summer may be  about a month away, but some of our summer crops  are in the ground and thriving. The tomatoes are beginning to reach for the sky and were all caged this week. (As much as tomatoes can be caged.) The summer squash  is beginning to poke up  through the ground ,and check things out. Mid-May is the time of the year when the Spring and Summer  seasons tend to run together and all kinds of plants co-habit in the garden. There are  always some Spring plants  checking out and some new Summer plants moving in. It seems like every day is moving day for somebody in the garden. I'll see you at the Saturday market on May 19th,and I'll hopefully see you at the Mid-week market from 6:30 to 8:30pm on Tuesday May 22nd. See you soon  Allan
